Randal’s Monday at Gamescom 2013
Randal’s Monday team attended Gamescom 2013, here you can read about the experience.
First of all, the number of visitors was huge, as usual. Large amounts of people were gathered at the entrance since the very first moment. Some even started running when the doors opened like if it was some sort of concert! Overall, more than 340.000 people attended the event. A brand new record, taking in mind that last year there were around 275.000 visitors. We believe that Xbox One and PS4 had a lot to do with that. The awaited new generation of consoles was present during the fair for everybody who wished to try it out. (As long as you don’t mind the big lines)
But don’t you think those were the only stars of the event! There were also some big names that caught people’s attention like Watchdogs, The Witcher 3, Titanfall or Batman Arkham Origins. Later on, we spotted some other nice products like Oculus VR which was also a real succeed. The line there kept growing every minute. Even so, we were patient and got to try this version of the well-known Virtual Reality device, which except some little details, was very interesting.
And right there, among all these “celebrities” was Randal’s Monday. Despite the big sagas displayed during the event, lots of point and click adventure fans came to pay us a visit to try the game and get to know a little bit more about it. We would like to thank you all for coming, we really hope you had a nice time!
Also, there were other interesting facts, like the inclusion of a retro stand which had a large selection of classic consoles available for everybody; Pong consoles, Commodore 64, Atari 2600, Jaguar, Master system, Nes etc. They even had Nintendo’s Virtual Boy! (Which we also tried). Apart from that, there was a huge merchandise area where you could buy tons of amazing geeky stuff, and even a Laser Tag stand!
Another big classic in this kind of fairs is cosplay. Several Gamescom attendants were wearing some really nice costumes from their favorite games. And both quality and variety were very impressive. You could find Mario and Luigi, Link and Zelda, but also Juliet Starling from Lollipop Chainsaw, uniforms from Army of Two, Ezio and Altair from Assassin’s creed etc.
So, in summary, we had a blast there! Not only because of the great games and consoles but also because of the people, the amazing visual display, and the atmosphere! If you like to be the first one to try the new products and don’t mind waiting in the line, this place is for you! So if you have the chance, don’t miss next year’s edition! Randal’s Monday surely won’t!
